Pacific Grove United "The ORCAS" (PG United - PGU)
PGU joined Monterey Peninsula Soccer League (MPSL), California Soccer Association
(CSA) in the of Spring 2005. In its first season, PGU took 2nd spot, after MIIS.
In its 2nd season (Summer 2005), PGU won its first championship. In the Fall of
2005, PGU placed 2nd after MIIS (again).
The team consists of mostly players from Pacific Grove. The team was created by
Ronny Haraldsvik (Manager, coach, captain) an alumni of University of San Francisco
(www.usfca.edu).
After taking a break from MPSL for just over 12 months (3 seasons), PG United is
back with a new team for Summer and Fall 2007. PGU put on a solid team for the
Summer '07 league at CSUMB and with the new team, and won the competitive summer
league with a 4-1 win over CSUMB's Dirty Ducks in the final on September 11. The
Fall 2007 league was off to a rocky start with a loss to MIIS and then Dirty Ducks.
After regrouping, the team won 12 games and won the Fall 2007 league.

- Summer 2007: #1 in the Summer league (@ CSUMB 8x8)
- Summer, Fall 2006 & Spring 2007: No games played by PGU
- Spring 2006: PGU placed 2nd going into the playoffs (new format)
- Fall of 2005: PGU #2 PGU
- Summer 2005: #1 (Playoff @ CSUMB 11vs11)
- Spring 2005: #2 PGU (in our first season)

About Pacific Grove:
Pacific Grove is located on the Central California coast, on the tip of the
Monterey Peninsula, 125 miles south of San Francisco, and 334 miles north of
Los Angeles, and 23 miles west of the county seat, Salinas. It is bounded on
the north by Monterey Bay, on the east by Monterey, on the south by Pebble Beach,
and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. Pacific Grove was founded in 1875 as a
Methodist Church Summer Retreat. Pacific Grove remains famous a "Butterfly Town U.S.A."
because of the annual migration of the Monarch butterfly. The beautiful orange and
black winged Monarchs arrive in October and spend the winter in Pacific Grove.
