Players from across the world come to Monterey Institute of International Studies for both a top class
graduate education and also to play for this legendary futbol club from the Monterey Peninsula.
Known as the Globadores, the Monterey Institute of International Studies Futbol Team has a long standing and
exciting history. Showing great success throughout the years, the MIIS Soccer Team has been in the MPSL since
its inception. Every year more than half of the team graduates and another set of students from around the world
find themselves putting on their boots to join in this great tradition. Globadores is an english/spanish hybrid
word meaning “global futbol players” and it perfectly describes the tradition of this pinnacle futbol club. You
can follow the MIIS futbol team on their team's website at miisfc.wordpress.com. In 2009 the MIIS team became
the first and only official athletic sports team in the history of the Monterey Institute.
Established in 1955, the Monterey Institute of International Studies, a graduate school of Middlebury College,
provides international professional education in areas of critical importance to a rapidly changing global community,
including international policy, business management, translation & interpretation, language teaching, sustainable
development, and non-proliferation. We prepare students from all over the world to make a meaningful impact in their
chosen fields through degree programs characterized by immersive and collaborative learning, and opportunities to
acquire and apply practical professional skills. Our students are emerging leaders capable of bridging cultural,
organizational, and language divides to produce sustainable, equitable solutions to a variety of global challenges.
The Institute’s approximately 800 students come from nearly 60 countries. Further information about the Monterey
