What is MPSL?
The Monterey Peninsula Soccer League (MPSL) is a USSF affiliated adult amateur league that was founded in the early 1980's. Most games are played on Sundays at Pacific Grove High School in Pacific Grove, California.

The Open League was the only league until 2012 when the Over 30 League was formed, and now starting in 2014 the All Women's League will have it's first official kick-off.

The MPSL is affiliated with FIFA through the U.S. Soccer Federation, the U.S. Adult Soccer Association and the California Soccer Association North (CSAN). All players must be registered for the MPSL through CSAN.

The MPSL Open League

The Open League started in the early 1980's and while it is a men's league, women players are welcome and some of our teams usually have one or two female players. Games are officiated under the FIFA Laws of the Game using a center referee and two assistant referees.
Unlimited substitutions are allowed with the center referee's permission on dead balls.

The level of play varies between Division 1 and Division 2 from year-to-year because of the annual turnover caused by the large number of graduate and undergraduate students that play in the MPSL. We have historically had teams from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey Peninsula College, the Presidio of Monterey and CSU Monterey Bay, along with a number of other local teams.

The MPSL Over 30 League

In the spring of 2012, several long time players started an Over 30 Division, managed under the auspices of the MPSL.

This new and exciting Division is first and foremost a fundraiser for the Pacific Grove High School soccer program. Males over the age of 30 and females over the age of 18 may join the Over 30 Division. The Over 30 Division uses an eight versus eight format on a reduced size field, with no offsides and no slide tackling of opponents.
If you’re interested in playing, coaching, refereeing or organizing an Over 30 team, please use the contact information table under the TEAMS section in the Over 30 page.
This new Division creates an opportunity for Over 30 men and women player to compete against other players having similar abilities. Funds raised by the Over 30 Division will in part be used to help develop the youth soccer programs of the Pacific Grove High School.
